ok, so I’m exhausted right now, but I’m forwarding this to selected
random folks, who knows to what corners of the universe this might
fly, but there are some pics here that I think you might enjoy/find
humorous. For me, the best part is what my dad calls “artifacts” I
call Dabba aka the sticks I use to cultivate my own garden. It’s funny
looking at the labels my dad chose and what I would say – uh dad,
that’s just dirt. Ha ha, so maybe I’ve been here too long. Also, the
group of huts in Kirsi is actually a part of the main village. And
every picture in Kirsi just about has random dog parts in it, those
would be my two ever-present mutts.
Heads up, please don’t send any more mail to Yako, everything to
Ouagadougou (not that a whole lot was being sent to Yako, and it
probably will find me in just the same length of time considering I
haven’t gotten any mail in the last 5 months because our postal system
here has all but died), at this juncture it is unclear whether I will
be staying in Kirsi for my remaining 10 months (and 5 days, 3 hours
and 47 minutes, ha! joking) long story, I don’t really want to get
into it because it’s a bit of a downer, but my hyper protective
village may be losing me because of a security threat. Which is
miserable and I lost all of last night’s sleep thinking about it to
the point where when I came in today I was so laid back I don’t think
any of what happened phased me (long interview with country director,
who I’ve gotten to know very well, nice long ride in Peace Corps car
from village, etc…). So hopefully within the next week or so I’ll
know where I will be spending the remainder of my time.
I’m going to crawl back over to the hostel and get some sleep,
tomorrow I’m going to send out one of my epic emails detailing the
floods (rather common but hysterical in that our temp boss was not
prepared for them and her reaction cracks me up), and…ok this is why
I made a list this time, it’ll be good, I promise lots more of me
trying to look through the eyes of someone who has not been on this
continent for the last 17 months and 2 days (which by the way marks my
2/3s point coming up soon! Yes, this is your cue to do a little jig in
my honor!)
cool yos, wish me luck!
